Suffering is a catalyst, it’s the test-tube-time to see whether you already have the grace to take it by faith, or if it can turn you to grace and cause you to call upon God.
Suffering always does one of these three things: It purifies and humbles and cleanses the saved and draws us even closer to God; it turns some of the unsaved to God and brings them to repentance and Salvation as in their suffering they cry unto the Lord; and then, finally, it causes some to curse God all the more and therefore be all the more deserving of His judgements.
The Lord allows the Enemy to test people and often the Devil brings suffering on people hoping they will blame it all on God and turn against Him. The Enemy tries to point an accusing finger at the Love of God, hoping they will “curse God and die” as Job’s wife advised him to do. But the Lord is hoping that they will endure in faith and trust Him anyway, and say with Job, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him!” (Job 13:15).
Lord, help us to let our sorrows and sufferings bring out the best in us! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
For Christ to be valued at all, He must be valued ABOVE all! You must seek first the King and His Kingdom!–And to seek first means foremost and above all!–Before everything else, above everything else, beyond everything else, and more than anything else! The FIRST place must belong to HIM!
The most important time you have to spend is with the Lord! To neglect your fellowship with the King of kings because you’re so busy with the affairs of the kingdom can be disastrous to your spiritual life and communion with the Lord! “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.”–Not even His service!–Nor even lost souls! So it behooves you to give God a little time, and we should give Him some time every day!–Every single day!
But if you’ll just put the Lord first and delight yourself in Him most of all, then He can trust you with other things, because they will not come between you and the Lord. They will not supersede nor overshadow nor distract, but they will supplement and be a help and merely augment your service to Him!–And all things shall be added unto you by His power and His strength and His might and in His time!
