Spiritual Bodies And
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel, and you don’t know these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? (John 3:10-12)
It is incompatible for us temporal beings in a temporal world to make any solid statements on Heavenly things. Yet, from what we can glean from ‘Near Death Experiences’, as well as from the Scriptures, we can draw certain valid conclusions which give us a greater understanding about what we more or less will be like, in the next world and dispensation. Join with us now in sorting out some of these Heavenly Mysteries, and see if some of its conclusions hold water or not!
Spiritual & Terrestrial Bodies
Though bound by limitations of their failing earthly memories, and inability to express Heavenly experiences in earthly words, from people who had Near Death Experiences, we can learn many things. Most of these conclusions coincide with descriptions found in the Bible.
Souls that go to Heaven in this age or dispensation, have a spirit body. These are bodies of light, that can either be nude or clothed: They seem to be of a somewhat “see-through” nature or even invisible at times, depending on what is revealed to the person who has the NDE. With these bodies the soul can go through the solid dimensions of this world, through walls, and ceilings, and travel at the speed of thought!
Also, the perception of these souls seems to be influenced by the management of their Heavenly guides or the Lord himself! Some kind of Heavenly Virtual Reality, yet more than REAL! Check out the following different excerpts:
“What I saw, I saw with the eyes of the spirit, because at that time my soul and my spirit were in heaven. At the time you leave the flesh, your spiritual awareness becomes acute, because the flesh holds down your spiritual awareness. At death, your spirit is released. My experience was supernatural but nonetheless real.”

“…as if I had eyes all around my head, I saw …souls that were in heaven – multitudes. There was no way to count them. Whether there were millions or billions, I have no idea. As far as I could see in every direction were people of all sizes dressed in white robes. The people were transparent; I could see through them.
“I looked at my body and realized I was one of them. When you look at yourself and can look through yourself, it is quite an experience. I was looking at a form of my body.

“Gradually the earth scene faded away, and through it loomed a bright, new, beautiful world – beautiful beyond imagination! I stood in a glory that could only be Heaven. In the background were two beautiful, round-topped mountains, similar to Fujiyama in Japan. The tops were snow-capped, and the slopes were adorned with foliage of indescribable beauty. The mountains appeared to be about 15 miles away, yet I could see individual flowers growing on their slopes. I estimated my vision to be about one hundred times better than on earth. To the left was a shimmering lake containing a different kind of water – clear, golden, radiant and alluring. It seemed to be alive. The whole landscape was carpeted with grass so vivid, clear and green, that it defies description. To the right was a grove of large, luxuriant trees, composed of the same clear material that seemed to make up everything. I saw twenty people beyond the first trees, playing a singing-dancing game, something like ‘Skip-to-My-Lou.’ They were having a hilarious time holding hands and dancing in a circle – fast and lively. As soon as they saw me, four of the players left the game and joyfully skipped over to greet me. As they approached, I estimated their ages to be: one, 30; two, 20; and one, 12. Their bodies seemed almost weightless, and the grace and beauty of their easy movements was fascinating to watch. Both sexes had long, luxuriant hair entwined with flowers, which hung down in glossy masses to their waists. Their only clothing was a gossamer loin cloth with a loop over one shoulder and a broad ribbon streaming out behind in graceful curves and curlicues. Their magnificence not only thrilled me, but filled me with awe. The oldest, largest and strongest-looking man announced pleasantly, ‘You are in the land of the dead. We lived on earth, just like you, ’til we came here.’ He invited me to look at my arm. I looked, and it was translucent; that is, I could dimly see through it.” [17 Near-Death Experience Accounts from Beyond the Light – Arthur E. Yensen]

“…I demanded of him: “How am I here, in this place, when I know that my body is back there in the hospital?” And “Where is this place? How do I see this place and you, if I’m not with my body? How can I be two places at once?” I began to feel very upset. “What are you?” I demanded!
His voice calmed me immediately. He said, “You are in a very special place. You are safe.”
He went on to explain that, though my body was in the hospital, it was my physical body and that each of us has also our spiritual body and our mental body.
He said, “It is your mental and spiritual body that is here. It is with your mental and spiritual eyes that you see this place. Likewise, it is through your mental and spiritual body senses that you perceive everything in and about this place. This place is in your mind’s eye, your imagination; it is as it is because this is exactly what you need it to be. Your physical crisis and mental need caused it to be just as you perceive it. I am here too without a physical body. You see me as I see myself in my own mind’s eye. A mental picture (a thought) from my mind to your mind’s eye. I am as you see me because this is the way that I perceived that you needed me to be. Who I am or my name is not important. I am here for you on behalf of your Heavenly Father’s love for you and to remind you from where you came.”

“The bodies of Heavenly Beings who receive the spirits of the departed, besides being see-through, are also made of light, the outlines and features of which can be seen, providing their luminescence is turned down enough. These luminescent bodies live in Cities of Light and are able to embrace, feel and do activities like weaving, playing musical instruments, Etc., all things that we are able to do with material bodies. Yet most of them seem to not be material nor flesh, and thus seem not to be able to enjoy flesh as we know it!
“Then he called out in a musical tone to the luminous entities who surrounded the great center. Several came and circled around us. During what follows some came and went but normally there were five or six and sometimes as many as eight with us. I was still crying. One of the first things these marvelous beings did was to ask, all with thought: “Are you afraid of us?” I told them I wasn’t. They said that they could turn their brilliance down and appear as people, and I told them to stay as they were. They were the most beautiful, the most … What these beings were showing me was their glory. I wasn’t really seeing them. And I was perfectly content. Having come from a world of shapes and forms, I was delighted with this new, formless, world. These beings were giving me what I needed at that time.”

“The city had these beautiful white buildings as far as I could see. I saw spirits living there all of which had vibration but no real physical body. These inhabitants went to and from the buildings – going to work and play too.”

“As an aside, I’m an artist. There are three primary, three secondary, and six tertiary colors in the visible light spectrum. Here, I was seeing a visible light spectrum with at least 80 new primary colors. I was also seeing this brilliance. It’s disappointing for me to try and describe, because I can’t – I was seeing colors that I had never seen before.”
Is The Heavenly Millennium Imminent?
Will Dimensions change?
From one Near Death Experience we learn that the time is soon coming in the Heavenlies, that the earthly will take on more attributes of the Heavenly eternal sphere. God wishes to usher in His Kingdom on Earth within the near future. In order to do so, God will have to rescind some of the free will given to man, in favor of more divine control over human events. This godly world order will resemble some near-death descriptions of heaven. People will live in such peace and harmony and love that communication will be telepathic, travel instantaneous and the need for clothing and shelter eliminated. The lion will indeed lie down with the lamb. Harmony will exist with the created order and people will control the weather and grow plants through loving communication.
We know from the Bible that the time of this new dispensation is coming soon after the return of Christ from the Heavenly Realm to this material world! After His return He and His Heavenly kingdom will take possession of the Earth, and rule it for a thousand years. Not only will Jesus take over the Earth, but He will bring back all the Saints with him from Heaven, to receive their so-called, “resurrection bodies!” Jesus Himself already has His resurrection body, and so do certain Old Testament Saints, that were resurrected right after Christ was, when He rose from the dead!
Although time is experienced totally different in the Heavenly Realm, there still seems to be some form of time, and we know from the Holy scriptures that the time of this Great Resurrection is at hand.
What Are Resurrection Bodies Like?
After Jesus was resurrected, He revealed himself to His disciples. When they saw him, it says that they were terrified, thinking that He was a ghost! He told them, “touch and handle Me! A ghost doesn’t have flesh and bones!” Then He said, “Do you have you anything to eat?”
They gave him a honeycomb and broiled fish, and He ate in their presence, proving to them that His body was made of flesh! Nevertheless He could instantly appear and disappear with His new body, and go through walls and even levitate! Even though the scripture says, that “flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God”, it seems that when the blood is gone and replaced by pure light flowing through the veins, flesh and bones can!–Supernatural Flesh & Bones!
We humans sometimes have a funny view on spiritual things, that it is all or nothing, either spirit or flesh! But what Jesus proved is that the ultimate environment–Paradise–is a combination of the best of both dimensions! A resurrection body that can fly at the speed of thought, is not subject to the material, but at the same time can ENJOY the MATERIAL! So it can enjoy drink, wine, food, and FLESH! Pleasures! Sex! All the different fleshly thrills! Consider what Jesus said to His disciples, in Matthew 26:29
“But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.“
It seems that He will not drink wine until He drinks it with us IN God’s kingdom, whether He meant now already or after the Great Resurrection, it is obvious that wine can be drunk in the Heavenly Realm!
Time In Heaven
There is Time in Heaven, but it seems to feel very different, and be of a different nature!
Check out the following excerpt:
“…Our spirit and consciousness continue to live on in a dimension beyond sequential time. We go beyond nanoseconds into a space-time measurement we cannot know here on earth. I call it the eternal now, because that is how it felt to me. The past, present, and future are all merged into what Scripture calls eternity. Eternity is the present, the now that never ends.”
BIBLE SCRIPTURES ABOUT HEAVENLY BODIES AND THE RESURRECTION!
1 “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
2 Corinthians 5:1-4
35 “But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other [grain]: 38 But God gives it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, [and] another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial [is] one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial [is] another. 41 [There is] one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for [one] star differeth from [another] star in glory. 42 So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was made] a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Corinthians 15:35-54
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
“And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
“Thy dead men shall live, [together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
“Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you. 27 Then said he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed. 30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (John 21: 24-31)
